Neuromodulators such as Botox and Dysport is a natural occurring protein produced from clostridium botulinum toxin A. The product is injected into the face for temporarily treatment of facial wrinkles. It works by temporarily weakening the muscles, which will reduce expression lines on the face.

Cost: varies on treatment area and desired look.

Duration: medication is removed from the body within 3 days. Onset of muscle weakness averages between 3-5 days. Effects lasts for 3-4 months.

Maintenance: every 3-4 months/year for upkeep injections.

Side Effects: most common, bruising, small amount of bleeding, and injection tenderness & discomfort.

Dermal Fillers are a synthetically produced form of hyaluronic acid which is naturally produced by the body. Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced by the body that keeps the skin moisturized and soft. Treatment areas include nasolabial folds, lip augmentation, cheeks, and lower face.

Cost: varies on treatment area and desired look.

Duration: lasts anywhere from 9-12 months. This varies on the product and the individuals body to slowly breakdown the product.

Maintenance: on average every 9-12 months.

Side effects: common side effects include redness, swelling, bruising, and injection tenderness & discomfort.

Deoxycholic acid is a drug that is indicated for the improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe curves or fullness associated with small fat pads under the chin, known as the “double chin.” The medication is injected in multiple sites under the chin.

Costs: varies depending on the amount of treatment needed. The cost is anywhere from $600-1200 per session. Usually, clients need 2 sessions 1 month apart. The nurse will make a treatment plan that will include the number of sessions and the projected cost.

Duration: treatment sessions are done 1 month apart until results are achieved for a maximum of 6 treatments.

Maintenance: maximum of 6 treatments. Effects lasts for years and rarely does a client need to be retreated after the first treatment is completed.

Side effects: most common are swelling, bruising, pain, redness, and numbness during injections.
